Here’s What Americans Think Of The 2016 Campaign Logos
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) may be polling in the middle of the pack in early primary states, but his logo is faring considerably better: 63 percent of Americans say they like Cruz’s flame design, according to a new YouGov poll.
Just like in real politics, there’s a divide between populist sentiment and elite opinion. Many professional graphic designers had less-than-complimentary reviews for Cruz’s logo, which was varyingly likened to Tinder, The Onion and a burning American flag.
But 90 percent of Republicans say they like the design, and even 49 percent of Democrats give it at least a lukewarm thumbs up. A 53 percent majority of Americans also like Sen. Marco Rubio’s (R-Fla.) logo, which one designer described as “unfortunate,” “complex” and “clunky.”
Not every candidate fared so well with the public. Only 38 percent like Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) stylized torch. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s much-maligned “H” logo fared even worse, with just 31 percent reacting positively. Even 37 percent of Democrats admitted they weren’t really fans of the logo.

The YouGov poll consisted of 1,000 completed interviews conducted April 15-16 among U.S. adults using a sample selected from YouGov’s opt-in online panel to match the demographics and other characteristics of the adult U.S. population.
